Stress

“Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension”

Change

As we grow older and we change, stress can enter into our lives and by the time we notice we have health issues or our mental state is a nerve wreck.

Our bodies adjust to new stress and as life goes on, and another situation comes along, we start building stress.

How much of what is “bad” in our lives is caused by cumulative stress?

Social Media

How much of what we see or hear on social media is affecting our lives in a negative way?

What do you do when you watch comedy?

Laugh

What do you feel when you watch romantic movies?

Fall in love all over again

What happens when you watch reality tv or when the next “Big Sale” pops up?

I’ll give you a moment…

What is one show that leaves you at ease?

I’m not against social media, but is what you’re watching more important than your peace?

3 Steps to Reduce Stress

The first thing to do is to disconnect as much as you can from social media to focus on yourself and those around you.

This step may take time because we are constantly looking at our phones.

Take 5 minutes to get fresh air.

Then, write a list of things that you would like to do.

What is something that makes you feel at rest, energize, alive?

For example, when was the last time you savor a meal? When your eyes were just looking, contemplating the flavor. The smell of cooked bacon made your mouth watery, or the crunchiness of freshly baked bread made you think of all the possibilities: toast and jam, ham and cheese, steak crostinis; and you took the time to enjoy every bite.

Finally, once you find something that is exciting to you and your senses awake to the life around you, it is time to boost the moments that lead you here.

Your home and work are the places you spend most of the time in. Spread those new feelings around these areas to increase inner peace.

We’re not changing other’s nor quitting our jobs; we are going back to those feelings that drew us to our loved ones or the excitement of doing something in our daily lives.

Creating awareness of stress can help us understand our emotions and the more we practice peace the less we are affected by situations out of our control.

How much of what people say or do is influence by your reaction?

Can you hold those negative emotions or hurtful word?

How much can you control instead of being part of a bad moment?

It will take time, this is your future, make the best of it now; to live that life you want in 3 months, 6 months or 30 years from now.
